giving of thanks

Although we had an early Thanksgiving celebration a few weeks back, I still had to celebrate just one more time on the actual day with a mini roast dinner. I feel full of gratitude for so many things in my life, it only made sense to look at this holiday as a chance to fully realize how lucky I am for my family and friends. I started the day off by talking to my family back home as they sat around the dinner table, introduced my co-workers to the joys of pumpkin pie, drank wine as dinner came together and convinced J and his parents to let me listen to Christmas carols while we ate dinner. Mashed potatoes, stuffing, cranberry sauce and Bing Crosby -what more could a girl ask for?

The rest of the weekend was equally as peaceful and productive: a sleep in while the rain poured, sewing xmas presents as the sun came out, phone calls to Boston, an afternoon nap, a long run and finally meeting up with friends for a night out in Manly.  Sunday saw a bit of xmas shopping, swimming, surfing, blogging, laundry, another run by the beach, food shopping and finally sitting in front of the TV while I knit and watch Escape To the Country - thankful indeed.

a look back

Looking back at the week that was: an impromptu BBQ with friends, German beer, a bit of baking, hanging in the backyard and an unfortunate car accident that luckily everyone walked away from unscathed. With today (or tomorrow if you're in the US) being Thanksgiving, I certainly have a lot to be thankful for this week.

girls night in

Despite the fact I couldn't find any pink in my closet (shocking, i know), last weekend's 'Girls Night In' was a great time and happily raised money for cancer research.  Pink perfection all around and just looking at those cupcakes makes me hungry - thanks again to Amanda and Emma for organising such a fun night for a truly worthy cause. x

sunday sessions

A collection of photos from the past week. Sunday stroll to Shelley beach, swings, seafood, sunshine, and champagne...sounds like summer has arrived.

the great gatsby

Come summertime, the list of reasons why I love living in Manly is endless.  Today just happened to be the hottest day in ages so we packed food and headed off to the beach for a swim, followed by dinner and a cold beer by the water. Throw in a striking sunset and a glimpse of Baz Luhrmann's The Great Gatsby being filmed close by and thought we'd call it a night. The only thing missing was a glimpse of Leo himself...

after work adventures

We decided to head into the city for a bit of a date last week. Wine, tapas and live music translated to midweek perfection.

keep calm & cranberry on

Nothing was going to stop me from celebrating Thanksgiving this year. I wanted - no needed - the turkey, the stuffing, the cranberry sauce, the chance to break out my thanksgiving themed napkins and of course my beloved turkey platter.  I have lots to be thankful for so I was feeling the holiday spirit - I even printed out decorations, found a 'Keep Calm & Cranberry On' sign and baked pumpkin pie from scratch. Luckily my Australian friends fully embrace celebrating American holidays and so we settled on a date (three weeks early but who cares) that worked for everyone and let the feasting begin. It was non-traditional to say the least but most importantly the food was plenty, everyone had a fun and in true family style we even managed to all fit around the table.
