the graduate

Congratulations!
Today is your day.
You're off to Great Places!
You're off and away...
-Dr. Seuss, Oh the Places You'll Go

We've celebrated a milestone over here in these parts recently, the kind of milestone that involves a cap and gown and one very important piece of paper. Yes, I'm talking about graduation.

J's graduation represents the end of a very long journey, one earned after countless hours of hard work and is a moment we both savoured. You see when we first met, J was planning to head back to Sydney, begin university and continue on with his life but then yours truly entered the picture and both our lives were turned upside down. While we worked out the complexities of living in different parts of the world and all the red tape that comes with the visa process, his degree was postponed, pushed back, completed in short bursts. It was only when my visa was granted and we settled in Sydney that he was able to seriously hit the books. It wasn't always easy but he pushed through, graduated with flying colours and I couldn't be more proud of him. As I watched him graduate at the University of Sydney ceremony I have to admit that seeing him in that get up, complete with fur trim, made me fall just a bit more in love with him.  Congratulations, I love you.
