Sibella Court | Christmas Flea Market

Since moving to Sydney over six years ago I have heard about Sibella Court's magical shop in Paddington, The Society Inc. I have no idea why it's taken me so long to visit but I'm so glad I did. It was her annual Christmas flea market and the place was packed with trinkets from around the world and bits and pieces that I couldn't stop staring at. The place is a gold mine, if you haven't yet been I suggest heading over to Paddington the first chance you get.

Braid Bar | Hair Romance

Anyone that knows me, understands that when it comes to hair & makeup I tend to keep it simple. I blame lack of skill and sheer laziness for this but when it comes to my hair the most daring I get is a ponytail (or if i'm particularly daring, the top knot) so I decided the best way to push me out of my comfort zone was to team up with Christina from Hair Romance to host a Braid Bar.

After a glass of wine I was ready to tackle the crown braid, the fishtail and the waterfall. I wouldn't say I actually excelled at any of them but I did have fun and was particularly impressed with some of my fellow classmates braiding skills. I have a lot of practice ahead of me.

Psychlops Eyepatch | The Melbourne Tour

My desire to live the Almost Famous lifestyle became a reality when Jimmy's band, Psychlops Eyepatch hit the road and went on tour in Melbourne. For split second I got to (finally) embrace a the rockstar lifestyle ala Penny Lane (minus the fur coat & Kate Hudson's hair) and played the role of band-aide to the best of my ability. It was a whirlwind weekend of three gigs in two days (they played their best show to date), late nights, lots of laughs, far too many hangovers and a hilarious adventure around Melbourne in our 'tour' bus - the 12 seater mini-van. I'm waiting for European tour and private jet to happen any day now...

South Coast, NSW | Birthday Celebrations

The weather predicted rain but luckily (and typically) they were wrong so our trip down the south coast last weekend for Anne's birthday and a long awaited family holiday was perfect. So was our house, a last minute rental that we totally scored. It had views to die for and that perfect peaceful vibe you hope for in a holiday house.

It was just what we all needed - a relaxing weekend to sleep in, read books, take walks, bbq in the backyard and take the required trip to the country town of Berry. Granted I ate my body weight in cheese and far too much wine but otherwise it was perfect and think Anne had a pretty great birthday to boot.

Finders Keepers | Etsy Christmas Pop-Up | Surry Hills Markets

It was one of those whirlwind weekends where so much was happening I felt like I was running on pure adrenaline.  First I was thrilled to be approached by Etsy to host a blogging event at their new Sydney Christmas Pop-Up shop - it was a great collaboration and a fun night supporting local design. Then after work on Friday I dashed off to the Finders Keepers market to say hello to some friends and do a bit of window shopping before heading to meet Jimmy for a spur of the moment date night in Newtown (go romance!).  On Saturday, for some unknown reason I was up early (this never happens) and Jimmy was down the coast surfing so instead of sleeping in I was showered and out the door by 8:30am, off to Paddington to check out Sibella Court's flea market (more on that in another post) and then one final trip to The Design Files Open House so I could snap a few photos.

I was about to head home when I realised the Surry Hills Markets were on so I treated myself to a coffee and a stroll around. It was honestly the most relaxing weekend I've had in ages and I remembered how good it is to actually wake up and seize the day - who knew?

Lens & Layout: A Photography and Design Workshop for Bloggers

It was this photography class first hosted in 2012 that sparked the idea for my company, Blog Society. Since then so much has happened but my desperate need to learn photography (and finally switch off auto for good) has continued and I am so happy to finally announce my second, more intensive, photography class taking place in 2014: Lens & Layout.

Far from an expert myself I've teamed up with two creative and incredibly talented women to help pass along their skills. They are a talented duo who have hosted a series of events called Life Captured that are truly inspiring and I'm lucky to be co-hosting this amazing workshop with Tealily Photography and Pink Ronnie.

I hope you'll join us for an intensive photography workshop for bloggers and an introduction to using InDesign to help improving your blog - the perfect blogger Christmas present if you ask me :)
