hike club 2 - manly to spit walk

After taking a look at the blue sky on display in these pictures it's hard to believe it's still winter here in Sydney. On Sunday morning, Hollie, Ness and I tackled our second Hike Club adventure bright and early with a 10km trip from Manly to the Spit, where each view was better than the last. It was one of those walks where I kept having to pinch myself just to believe that I live in a place this beautiful, where in the middle of winter, I can walk along a beach that resembles a tropical island wearing nothing warmer than a t-shirt (not a scarf or mitten in sight). It was stunning. Since the sun kept shining we ended the hike with breakfast in Manly and and then J and I spent the afternoon reading and relaxing in the sun, tough life I know. Hope your weekend was equally as enjoyable and for those family and friends back home, bunkering down for hurricane Irene, stay safe!

week at a glance

Scenes from the week - picking up a few items that I've had my eye on (including some Mud bowls that I'm in love with), a sign that Spring is near, catching up to celebrate a friend's belated birthday at Miss Marley's over a few glasses of wine and a trip into the city where you can't help but admire the beautiful QVB building. In other news, I'm sad to say our house sitting holiday comes to an end this weekend. It's been nice to have a bit of a change but saying goodbye to little Elmo is going to be tough considering we've certainly become attached to the little guy. Lastly, my brain is a bit fried so I'm going to pour myself a glass of wine, put my feet up and watch some trashy TV series - happy Friday.

the cat's meow...

I should learn never to listen to the weather forecast when planning my weekend. Rain -heavy rain- was predicted and so I decided to give Saturday In Design a pass this year and instead, relish my new temporary home and just chill out. When Saturday rolled around the skies were actually blue but this sudden burst of sunshine didn't deter me from having a lazy weekend of epic proportion. We slept in, cooked up a storm, played with the cat, had dinner with friends, took a trip to the book store, grabbed Japanese for lunch, played with the cat some more and did it all over again on Sunday. If only every weekend could be like this...

Elmo

This week we're house sitting for friends off enjoying their baby moon in Queensland.  They have a beautiful apartment which we're enjoying at the moment but the best part of all is their cat, Elmo.  We love him (and might just have to steal him at the end of the week).  Nothing on the agenda this weekend but to relax...

life in the slow lane

My cold has subsided and I'm so glad to finally have my energy back. There is something about this time of year, when spring feels like its just around the corner, that really makes me look forward to the months ahead.  Maybe it's the lingering effect of the cold medicine or the fact I've been trapped inside the house for too long, but I feel strangely motivated and inspired. Inspired to knit up a storm and finally finish these Xmas presents, inspired to take on this new role at work, which has so far proved to be both challenging and rewarding, inspired to get outside and get in shape after a gluttonous few months and the list goes on. I have to admit it's a really great feeling.  Over the next few weeks we hope to have a little holiday and even have visitors from home stopping by - lots to look forward to.  J's ankle debacle has forced us to move at a crutch's pace but I don't mind (I'm sure he feels differently). It has forced us to slow down and I'm looking forward to a quiet weekend together, in the meantime here are some photos from our week.

p.s. wishing my sister and brother-in-law a wonderful belated honeymoon on the Amalfi Coast - enjoy!

sick & tired

Not much happening around these parts I'm afraid. J fractured his ankle and I was suffering from a full blown cold, so apart from a trip to the hospital and the grocery store we didn't leave the house. I read magazines, consumed orange juice and vitamins in large quantities and watched countless hours of TV.  Lots going on this week for both of us so time to rest up...

trade show wrap up

Well I'm back from Melbourne (finally!) after wrapping up not one, but two trade shows this past week. Both the Life Instyle and Reed Gift Fairs events went off without a hitch and I've got the sore feet to prove it.  It was great to meet up with Leanne, Michelle and Tess and check out all the amazing products on display - sensory overload.  The rest of the week involved early mornings, late nights, lots of room service, exploring Melbourne's restaurant scene, talking to more exhibitors than I can fathom, exciting news, work drama and all the other madness that comes with putting on an event.  So happy to be back in Sydney....
