Bali Bound...

I'm obsessed with Christmas. Yes, I happily admit I'm one of those people. I love to listen to Christmas carols year round (much to the dismay of everyone around me), I love to plan elaborate dinners, shop for gifts and most importantly - spend the festive season in a cold climate.  Something about bundling up by the fire feels so much more like Christmas than standing around a BBQ in shorts and a t-shirt.

I haven't quite got the hang of an Aussie Xmas but since we were in Boston last year with my family, this year we were planning on staying in Sydney - that is until J's parents suggested we jump ship and celebrate in Bali.  Um, what??  Jet off to a far away paradise, get to live my own version of 'Eat,Pray,Love' are you kidding me, we couldn't say 'yes' fast enough!  So come December we are off to Bali and although it will be far from the white Christmas I'm used to, I'm excited to try something new. I always get a bit sad about being away from my side of the family at that time of the year so our friends, Cia and Nick, are joining us for the celebrations and I can't wait to see them! Over the past few weeks we've been saving our pennies and planning our trip but would welcome any suggestions from those that have been to Bali...

You lucky duck! I'd love to be jetting off somewhere lovely for Christmas. I'm a big fan of the day too, cranberry and popcorn strings, fairy lights and carols are a regularity in my house from early December (if it were just up to me, it would be from November!).

You have to go to the Rock Bar ... it looks amazing! friends went to Ayana's hotel for the honeymoon and said it was incredible and the shopping for gorgeous silk tops and dresses is great right now! fun

Oh yippee for you. Bali is lush. Great food, lovely people and beautiful things to see and do. We got married there last year. Plugs from me- Ubud is amazing. Really artsy, great food and coffee and chilled vibe. Bingin is stunning. Some of the best sunsets ever. So relaxing and a few lovely beaches. I haven't been but Gili Islands are supposed to be fab. I'd only stay a few days in the main places Seminyak/Legian/Kuta as they are pretty commercial. Seminyak is the best of those three. You will have a fab time whatever you do really. Yeah for holidays. x

It must be weird having Xmas in Summer if you're from the Northern Hemisphere...I had a white Xmas years ago in Scotland and it was beautiful. Bali - I haven't been but have heard the mountainside (ie getting off the beaches) is a beautiful part of Bali xx

Bali is amazing! I went there on my own during college and was just amazed at the beauty there. I recommend visiting the artist colony at Ubud. See you at BYW...
