I love my crock pot. There I've said it.
Ignore the daggy brown exterior (which I personally think creates a bit of 70's charm) and focus on the fact this little wonder creates meal time magic any day of the week. Where else can you throw in a bunch of food, leave it for hours at time and then return to find a beautiful home cooked meal? Well lately I've been seduced by the charms of the crock pot and find myself selling it's benefits to complete strangers. 'It can feed a family of 4 on pennies a day!' I said to the woman behind me at the check out counter. Embarrassing? Yes, but oh so true.
Yesterday, as I was too distraught over my weekend hair disaster to cook, I discovered another recipe that works well - beef bourguignon. Yup, I chopped up some ingredients, let them simmer away for a few hours and the end result was something that even Julia Child would have been proud of - bon appetit!
I hate to say it, but I think I share your love of the crock pot - though mine is no way as cool as yours. I have been doing chicken enchiladas in mine. OMG! So simple. I think you can google chicken enchilada and slow cooker, or crock pot. If you can't find the recipe. Let me know and I'll share. Sooooo good.
Oh I love my crock pot too! Walking into the house at the end of the day to be greeted with yummy aromas is so comforting on a cold day. Mine's orange. Must try the beef bourguignon.
Uh, chicken enchiladas? You are seriously beyond me in the crockpot ways...My specialties are a mean chickpea curry and some decent soups. Amen for the crocpot, a busy womens saviour.
I love the 70s retro look, how very Stepford Wives of you! Sounds like you've been cooking up a storm. Hope the hair's recovered and J isn't too scarred by the memory of it!! xxx
That clicking sound of the tape being shut back into the Walkman. Clever thing, you. I'd forgotten how satisfying a sound that was - though mine wasn't a Walkman, it was some inferior brand, but still good.
You know, I must get one of these. Been meaning to for ages! It would be so easy to prep dinner for the little people, chuck it all in and voila. Yes, must get one...!`
Oh, I've been thinking of buying a crock pot! This post has me sold on the idea for sure!! And, incidentally, I love the exterior of your crock pot....it gives it that nostalgic feel.
P.S. Love your blog. Mine started out (and has remained) the journal I've never quite been able to do in paper and ink as well! :)
I dream about doing that - chucking things in a pot and leaving it to cook for hours...is a crock pot the 70s version of a slow cooker? Either way, I think you're onto something!
as much as i love my big fat crock pot, it can't feed a family of four on pennies. smile
'It can feed a family of 4 on pennies a day!' I said to the woman behind me at the check out counter.
Ummm...such a JC moment. Love it.
I have the same one,and the original cookbook that came with it. I love it!
It makes my day so much easier :)
I love your crock pot!! It reminds me of one my mum had when I was growing up. Love it love it love it!
Hi! I just stumbled upon your blog. I love it :D
I love my crock pot too! And today is the first day of fall here so I can't wait to start using it more!
Oh I'm with you sister. I only wish I had kept my mom's old crock pot with the faux brick exterior!
