Kiwi Fiesta...

Nothing beats a mid-week Mexican fiesta (and of course a few flowers to brighten up a cloudy day).  Tonight we made tacos and watched trash TV - the only thing missing was a margarita.  We also began to plan the arrival of my parents in two weeks and the trip we'll take with them to New Zealand. We'll be traveling 'National Lampoon' style, and taking a road trip through both the North and South islands.  I can't wait and would love to hear any suggestions from anyone who has been!

Akaroa, an hour from Christchurch is absolutely stunning. Was colonised by the French so has a very French-NZ feel. Stunning views, nice food etc.

I vote for the bay of islands, so stunning. Oh & cape reinga at the very top, beautiful. & while up that way, pop in to see Tene Mahuta, NZ's largest Kauri tree. He's 4.4m in diameter! He lives at Waipoua Kauri forest near Whangarei.
All the best for your adventure. You'll love NZ I'm sure.
Have a happy week!

We spent 1o days on the South Island for our honeymoon in April/May 2010.
LOVED Queenstown! Cant wait to go back.
Drove from Queenstown to Milford Sound - It's beautiful.
Go to Frans Josef Glacier! Much better than Fox Glacier and a nicer town too. Tiny and you should only need one night there.
Sorry... But We thought Christchurch was BORING. Nothing much to do. We did however go in a hot air balloon and it was wonderful! Loved that.
There are so many places you can go to and see, the place is brilliant and we are going to try and head back before we have the baby.

Arrowtown! It's a beautiful spot near Queenstown and is just gorgeous. Also agree with Akaroa and Hamner Springs is a bit touristy, but lovely too. Can also recommend a great B&B there if you like! Enjoy!

I was only in NZ for a few days but I remember Piha beach being absolutely stunning - very evocative of "The Piano"! Have a wonderful trip!

My fiance is from Raglan on the West Coast of the North Island. I lived there for a bit a few years ago and it is amazing. Kind of like what Byron Bay would've been like 30 years ago... but better. It's only 40mins from Hamilton. xo

Hi! i just found your blog & i am loving it. I am a sydney girl who moved to NZ & i am in love with it. In the north the bay of Islands & Wellington is defs the place to hang out (i found Auckland quite boring..except for the giant rubber ducky in their harbour). In the south check out the glaciers, arrowtown is cute, wanaka is gorgeous, we got lost in Queenstwn & ended up in a park feeding bison!. Dunedin has the steepest street in the world & moreaki has these beaches littered with boulders. Lots of beautiful ice cream & landscapes and scenery if your driving. Have an amazing trip.

I've never seen flowers like these! Looks like a combo of Black-Eyed Susan and sunflowers.

Stunning!
