the cubicle blues

Working in a cubicle lends itself to some pretty dull moments throughout the day: the click of the mouse, the buzz of the computer screen, the endless stream of emails – you know the drill. I almost jump out of my chair in excitement when a new magazine comes across my desk. Just a bit of color to brighten up the day can change your mood or provide a glimmer of hope in stark cubicle land - am I right?

So you can imagine how happy I was to see that this week’s e-course assignment was to create a mood board that reflects your blog and/or your own personal style (or in my case, what I wish was my personal interior style) Without hesitation I picked up some scissors and a glue stick and got to work. This was just the task I needed to get my hands dirty and step away from the computer. I wanted to create. I encourage anyone that scoffs at crafting to give it a go -  you’ll be surprised at how much fun can stem from a few magazine clippings.

I did this exercise a few years back and its striking how similar my boards came out. Same but different, isn't that always the way?

Wonderful...awesome job. BUT I agree with Kitty...TOTALLY ridiculous you have it done already♥ I bet you were always the kid in the class room who turned her assignments in first too☺ We are just jealous...don't mind us.

I love how "you" came through in both boards. You have me excited to work on my board. Haven't even had a chance to read through yesterday's posts yet.

Wow, that was quick! I really love your mood board, especially the "live what you love" in the middle, also the camera and the cute photo strip. Enjoy the rest of BYW! Best wishes, Jenni

Oh my goodness you are Speedy Gonzalas!!! Love your moodboard and loved your other one too. More blues and cooler tones this time. Calming ad lovely. Love the use of words you've put on there too. I'm a moodboard addict. Love making them and seeing other people's. can't wait to get stuck into this week's homework but I'm definitely a loooong way behind you:) x

You rock! You're already done?! It looks great - very graphic with a clear/consistent aesthetic. Inspiring. I need to get on this, I am excited to begin - just challenged with the mommy balancing act today. ;)

Your moodboard is awesome! Love the phrases you chose, and I can definitely get a sense of your style with this, which is the point, right?! :)
I feel you about the monotony of cubicle, even thought I like my job it can definitely feel a bit stale sometimes... And I love getting new magazines to look through (even catalogues!). I can't wait to get out my gluesticks and go to work on my moodboard this weekend!

Lovely combo of elements on your board Jaclyn. The fact you did it so quickly just shows you have a clear direction and know where who you are and where you want to be which is great. Enjoy your time away!

i like the mood board. of course it has a camera which makes me smile. does it make you smile?

every time i grab my camera I connect with it. just me and the camera - hopefully it works out but sometimes it doesn't! Such is life.

Love your moodboard and you're right; any excuse to get working with our hands and not the computer should be jumped at. I did opt for the easy way out and I started one digitally. I am thinking to do a paper one too just for myself!

Beautiful moodboard! It's definitely brings the point across that you were trying to make from the blog post. Great job!

Love your mood board and the messages it sends! It's funny how the final outcome always makes you realize something you never knew (or maybe it WAS always right under your nose and never realized it)!

I'm enjoying the byw forums these last few days and I'm so glad I clicked here. I LOVE your mood board. I too spend all day at a desk (financial controller by day) and then when I come home I hop onto another desk (blogger by night). So I know exactly what you mean. I've started to do more paper crafts and also order some of my subscriptions in hardcopy again just to get away from the tech for a bit.

Again...love the board.
