In the Mood...

As I type this post I'm sitting on the living room floor, surrounded by glue sticks, markers, scissors and scraps of paper. The scene is reminiscent of a kindergarten class but in fact I'm doing my homework (not quite the master thesis you might have imagined). You see my online course is ending this week and I'm scrambling to complete my 'mood board' assignment. What is a mood board you ask?  I like to think of it as a grown-up version of 'show & tell'. It's an opportunity to express my interests and let's be honest - who doesn't jump at the chance to use a glue stick?

I've attempted to channel my inner stylist and piece together bits of myself and things I enjoy - black and white photos, nature, typography, sewing, wine - and pizza (of course).  It was strangely therapeutic to do this assignment and the class in general has been a challenge in many ways.  As we get older we get stuck in these comfortable routines and I'm the first to admit I'm guilty of this. I found it confronting yet really uplifting to take a further look into the things that really matter to me and what drives me. Without getting all Tony Robbins on you I'll just say it was a rewarding experience and kept me motivated to keep on writing down my thoughts in this here little space.  Now I just need to go get this glue of my hands...

Dude, this looks so awesome! I'm so proud of you for totally throwing yourself into this course and squeezing every last drop of knowledge out of it. I'm scouring this mood board and loving every image you've picked. You've got an A* from me lady!
ps. collaging is one of my favourite things to do too. I scrap book loads of interior/fashion images that inspire me and i'm never without a glue stick. In a non-addict way obviously!! xx

It's great what you've done so far - the mood board looks great. I won't have time unfortunately to do mine by the 1st October..I think I might do one anyway but might be when class has finished!

Hey Jaclyn I'm a fellow BYW classmate (and fellow Sydney-sider). I love your mood board! I did one a week or so ago but couldn't figure out how to blog about it (a good thing I'm doing the course), but I love the way you've written about it here. It was incredibly fun and you're right, who doesn't love a glue stick!?

thank you all for such nice comments, it was the most fun I've ever had doing homework. sorry I didn't mention it but the course is the Blogging Your Way course run by Holly from Decor8, it has been such a wonderful and rewarding experience!

Hazel - not sure what I do differently with the photo size except I normally crop/resize them on picnik.com before posting. hope that helps!
