Okay it's time to confess that I've been totally slack in the sewing department, despite my purchase a few weeks back of a really super duper sewing machine. I had all these lofty plans to complete blankets, bags, dresses you name it but how much has actually been done? None. Zero. Zip. Zilch.
Does this happen to anyone else? Am I the only one that can be distracted by an episode of "Keeping Up with the Kardashians" and before you know it three weeks have gone by and the pile of fabric is still sitting untouched? Well,I figured the first step in the right direction is to actually learn how my new sewing machine works. It's got all these fancy new buttons, stitches and gadgets that I know nothing about so I took advantage of the free lesson that came with the machine. The very patient staff from the Bernina Center sat me down and walked me through the wonders of my new machine. I learned a hell of a lot, mostly that a second lesson is in order before I fully grasp its true powers. Hopefully in the coming weeks I'll bond with my little Bernina 380 and start producing some handmade gifts because the Christmas clock is ticking...

You go girl! You'll be sewing up a storm in no time! I got my sewing hat on yesterday too...i'll show you my craftiness later today. It's all so satisfying when you finish a project! Can't wait to see what you make. Hope you had a lovely weekend xx
I'm sure you'll get the hang of it! Who knows where it'll take you.... potential Project Runway contestant?
And yes, I too make grand plans and get distracted by useless *#ap. Always get there in the end though.
my crafting definitely comes in spirts...normally in autumn. haha.
I admire you trying....I am hopeless with sewing projects. Hope your week is great!
So much braver than me. I suspect that I could only ever sew things that are in straight lines!!! Like pillowcases or blankets. I'm sure like anything once you jump in and have a go it will be fine! Look forward to seeing some sewing projects.
you are not alone!!
Oh my goodness, I can totally relate! I have my first sewing class tonight and I'm using my mother in law's sewing machine which I've never even seen before, let alone used! I'm a tad nervous but what the heck! x
I have a very basic sewing machine that I'm trying to get a handle on. Yikes. I'm looking forward to seeing what you sew!
Definitely not alone. I can get distracted by pretty much anything, even though I love creating things more than anything in the world. Why is that, I wonder? x
Dearest Jaclyn, so happy to came by and visit you here on your very inspiring space. :) About your question...it's totally NORMAL..i get that way too ~ easily distracted. How cool to know you bought a new sewing machine! I have a Bernina too and im loving it so much. I am looking forward to see your creations! Have a lovely merry happy week and love to you!
This definitely happened to me too. I just got a new sewing machine, and I was scared of it for several weeks. New machine classes really do make all the difference! My machine and I have now bonded. :-)
Good luck with the Chrismas deadline. Oh, and the Spring Clean should be called the Spring Clear. As it so happens I always manage to amass such a pile of fabrics and op-shopped frocks and skirts I have bought because of the fabric and always end up having to whittle it down to make room in the cupboard for what really needs to be in there.
Since you gave yourself up, I'll admit that I have feedsack fabric laid out on an ironing board in the kitchen that we've been working around for going on week 2. It wants to be tea towels, but the IRONING! I hate it:)
I have an awful habit of buying things that don't fit me with good intentions of adjusting them. I now have my very own mountain in my bedroom.
