and the rain came

I’ve never been more grateful for rain than I was this past weekend. It didn’t just rain here in Sydney, it poured – for days - and I celebrated each gloomy, rainy, dismal day as the perfect excuse to rest up and recharge.

I was feeling under weather and needed to hibernate, to rest my body, my mind and catch up on some much needed sleep.  So as the rain poured, I perfected the art of doing nothing, in my cold medicine-induced stupor I slept the day away finally emerging and feeling half human again. I spent the rest of the weekend leaving the house only when absolutely necessary and pottered around planning our Paris trip, baking bread (or attempting to), watching movies and celebrating the surprise engagement of Cia & Nick (the highlight of my weekend by far, champagne was in order - I'm so happy for these two!).

It’s strange what a low key weekend can do, how just removing yourself from the world ever so slightly can recharge those batteries and give you clarity and a stronger perspective. It was just what the doctor ordered and luckily enough by Monday morning the clouds had cleared and the sun was shining.

Sounds like a nice relaxing weekend. Sometimes I'm secretly pleased when it rains on a Sunday so I have a good excuse to stay in and hibernate!
