Last night I watched Amelie (again). After watching the movie I concluded (again) that I not only wanted to learn French (it's been on my list for awhile, thanks Casie for the reminder) but that I want to be French. Perhaps if I drink as much red wine as possible and listen non-stop to Edith Piaf I will somehow morph myself into an effortlessly chic French woman. Doing this would allow me to be stylish at all times, wear a scarf without looking like I'm strangling myself and be a great excuse to toss out all of my cotton undies and replace them with luxurious, lacy undergarments.
If I was French I would automatically age gracefully and walk around with fresh baguettes but more importantly I would be able to eat one teeny, tiny bite of decadent desserts and say "no more for me, thank you, I'm full". Well, a girl can dream...
oui oui! I've been trying to embrace my inner french girl lately as well. A squirt of french perfume, a casually placed scarf, and baguettes in the oven...yet still I seem to scream Skippy Chick...ah, but a girl has to try...
Bonjour mon cherie!
Oui - start wearing stripes too. Mandatory. And a cute little bicycle will help with the so Frenchy, so chic feel.
And a macaron or two will never go astray! Bon appetit!
Stripes are a must! Oh to speak French fluently and to rock the Parisian style! A lifelong goal me thinks!! x
...and cheese! I'm addicted to Fromage D'affinois...and Fromager Des Clarines. And...oh the list goes on and on! Don't get me started on the desserts, I'll faint!
You would however have to suffer bad coffee...but being French certainly seems to have it's perks.
This post makes me happy. I lived in Paris for 2 years & I had the time of your life...you should just pick up and move there, you would love it ;-)
Snap- Amelie is waiting at home to be watched, and the French book is sitting on my bookshelf. Sadly my first attempt at learning French at Adult Ed did not go well. But it doesn't stop me wanting to visit!
Oh how i love all things french...your post made me smile.
Have you read Almost French by Sarah Turnbull? If not, get your hands on a copy!
Yes, that book is fantastic! It will make you want to pack your bags and book your fight! x
Amelie has the same affect on me! That and it makes me want to do delightful, quirky things...
This one made me chortle out-loud.
Sigh. One teeny-tiny bite is never enough!
Hi Jaclyn, thanks for leaving a comment yesterday...It's funny because I saw your blog when we started the BYW class and I loved it, especially this post (suprisingly :) I thought about emailing you earlier but I was being shy I guess, so I was really happy to see your note yesterday. I'm loving the class too, I'm learning a ton of stuff... See you
I love the image us French girls have abroad! I'd say you're describing the Parisian girl, rather than French girls in general. :)
